Price it right, and keep what you plan for
Our fee (8% on the first KES 20,000 of the price per person, 5% on the next KES 80,000 and 3% above KES 100,000) is taken from your payout on each booking, so price your trip to include it. Travellers pay exactly the price you list. The price calculator in the workbook already adds the fee, so what you list covers it. If we have marked you as a verified agency, the fee is shared: the traveller pays 50% of it on top of your price and the other 50% is taken from your payout.

- 60% of your share is paid before the trip once it is confirmed to run, and the last 40% two hours after you tick everyone in.

What we ask of every leader
Travellers trust the platform because leaders look after them. That is the deal.
- Be a real, verified person, and list only trips you will actually run.
- Describe your trip honestly: what is included, what is not, how hard it is.
- Find out what licences, permits and insurance your trips need in Kenya, including whether the Tourism Regulatory Authority requires you to be licensed, and have them before you take payment. TwendeTrips verifies who you are, but does not inspect trips, vehicles or guides.
- Look after your travellers' details and use them only to run the trip.
Questions
Do I need a certain number of followers?
No. Unlike some platforms, TwendeTrips doesn't gate leaders behind a follower count. If you can plan a good trip and bring people along, that's what matters. A following helps you fill spots faster, but it isn't a requirement.
What does it cost to start?
Signing up and verifying cost nothing. Our fee (8% on the first KES 20,000 of the price per person, 5% on the next KES 80,000 and 3% above KES 100,000) is taken from your payout on each booking, so price your trip to include it. Travellers pay exactly the price you list. If we have marked you as a verified agency, the fee is shared: the traveller pays 50% of it on top of your price and the other 50% is taken from your payout. A free trip needs a one-time KES 500 listing fee. Featuring a trip is optional and costs KES 1,000 for 7 days.
How much can I actually earn?
You set your own price per person, and travellers pay exactly that. Our fee (8% on the first KES 20,000 of the price per person, 5% on the next KES 80,000 and 3% above KES 100,000) comes out of your payout, so a trip you list at KES 18,000 with 10 people booked brings you KES 180,000 less our fee, before your own costs. The price calculator in the workbook raises its suggested price to cover the fee, so you see your real numbers.
Do I need a licence to lead trips?
TwendeTrips can't decide that for you, and it matters. Kenya's Tourism Act says nobody may carry out the tourism activities it lists without a licence from the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA), and operating without a required licence is an offence. If you run trips for gain or reward, ask TRA whether you need one before you take payment. The workbook's chapter on the rules explains what to check and links the official sources.
Do I need a registered company?
No. You can list as an individual or under a brand name, as long as a real verified person is behind the account. You are responsible for your own taxes on what you earn, so ask an adviser what suits you.
Will TwendeTrips help promote my trip?
Every trip can be found through search and categories, and our Trending and Leaving soon rows on the homepage. Trending is earned by real bookings, not bought. You can also feature a trip for a fee. We are a young platform, so most of your first bookings will come from your own network, which is exactly what the workbook helps you with.
How far in advance should I publish?
About six weeks ahead gives people time to plan and gives you time to reach your minimum group size. Shorter notice works for day trips and meetups, and the workbook shows how to choose a cancellation policy that suits short-notice trips.
Can I run more than one trip?
Yes, as many as you want. Many leaders run a rotating calendar of trips.
Do I get my own link to share?
Yes. As soon as you become a leader you get a short link of your own, like twendetrips.com/l/your-name, that shows all your trips and events in one place. It goes live once you are verified. Post it in your bio or status, print its QR code, or make a separate link for each place you post it and see which one brings people. You will find it on your dashboard Overview, and you can change the name in it.
What about insurance?
TwendeTrips doesn't provide travel or medical insurance for you or your travellers. Make sure everyone, including you, has appropriate cover before departure, and say so in your listing.
